A Brighter Future Starts Here

At Little Lights CIC, we believe that no child or young person should be left behind.

Based in Selly Oak, Birmingham, we are a community-led social enterprise responding to the growing need for safe, supportive and empowering spaces for vulnerable children and young people — especially those facing poverty, trauma, neglect or social isolation.

We are proud to have received initial funding from The National Lottery Community Fund
to launch Little Lights Café. This is just the beginning — we continue to welcome
supporters to help us open our doors fully and sustain our workshops until we are
self-sustaining.

The Challenge We Face

According to Birmingham City Council, thousands of young people in our city are affected by:

  • Food insecurity
  • Mental health struggles
  • Lack of access to skills, training and employment opportunities

Those most at risk — including children affected by abuse, unstable housing or family breakdown — are being left behind in a system that too often fails them.

We dream of a Birmingham where every young person feels seen, supported and equipped to build a brighter future — no matter their background.

Our Response

We don’t just serve food — we create pathways to brighter futures.

Through our social café, we fund and deliver:

  • Hands-on workshops in baking, barista training and hospitality
  • Mentoring and life skills programmes for vulnerable youth
  • Free or low-cost meals for those in need
  • Mental health support and inclusive community events

We focus on building confidence, connection, and opportunity — one person at a time.

Our Vision

We dream of a Birmingham where every young person feels seen, supported and empowered — regardless of their background or circumstances.

Hope in Action

Whether it’s through a warm meal, a new skill, or simply being heard, Little Lights is a place where hope rises — one life at a time.
